Meadow Brook Theatre located on the Campus of Oakland University, in Rochester, Michigan is accepting applications for Scenic Carpenters. Seasons produce 6 shows and remounts “A Christmas Carol.” This position is covered under an IATSE contract (applicant does not need to hold an IATSE card). The carpenter can also could be pulled to run a show or help with other departments as needed.

Requirements:
o 2 yrs. professional experience minimum
o Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings
o Knowledge and ability to follow shop safety procedures
o Proficient with hand and power tools
o Strong knowledge of scenery construction.
o Able to lift at least 60lbs
o Able to work at heights of 25’
o Basic Welding
o Basic rigging
o Clean driving record
o Can drive a 26ft truck
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Multitasking skills
o Highly motivated and willing to learn.
o Good attitude and work ethic.
o Sense of humor
o Ability to take instruction and feedback from supervisors.

Preferred Skills
o Basic scenic painting
o AutoCAD experience
o Lighting skills

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
o Construction, load-in and strike all scenic elements.
o Maintain a safe work environment, following all safety procedures and guidelines as outlined
by the Technical Director and Shop Foreman
o Picking up materials/transporting scenic elements.
o Theatre maintenance
o Could run shows
o Cleaning
